Maria Chan, AdvAPD
Maria Chan is an Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian (AdvAPD) in Australia and has post graduate qualifications in Nutrition & Dietetics and Exercise & Sport Science from the University of Sydney. Maria is active in the field of renal nutrition in Australia and overseas. She is the committee member of a number of working parties in NSW Department of Health and the Dietitians Association of Australia where she takes part in projects including strategic planning of renal services and the dietitians workforce training. She also played key roles in a number of working parties to develop evidence based clinical practice guidelines for the nutritional management of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). At the international level, Maria has served two terms as the associate council member / dietitians representative to the International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism (ISRNM). She has contributed to over 16 peer reviewed publications and was on the scientific committee of a number of congresses. Her research interests include nutrition, metabolism and exercise intervention in renal disease. Her research collaboration has extended to centres abroad, including the Baxter Novum Renal Research Centre and the Department of Renal Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. |
