Professor Patrick Ball
Patrick Ball graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Aston (UK) in 1975. After completing his internship at the Selly Oak Hospital, he remained in hospital pharmacy. At this time, major advances were occurring in clinical pharmacy and clinical nutrition. Patrick became involved in both. In 1979 he moved to the Children’s Hospital, Birmingham, a tertiary paediatric hospital serving a population of 15.5 million, where he worked as a clinical pharmacist responsible for parenteral nutrition and critical care. In 1986 he gained an MSc in Paediatrics and Child health from the University of Birmingham for a thesis on computer applications in nutrition support and in 1991, Membership of the College of Pharmacy Practice (UK) by examination. Whilst researching a thesis for the University of Wales, he was appointed to the University of Otago as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy in 1994, He was awarded a PhD in 1997. The author of over 150 publications, he is currently Professor of Rural and Remote Pharmacy at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga and holds an appointment as a clinical pharmacist at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. |
